Event Information:
Once again we will try our luck to find a Screech Owl during an evening snowshoe hike hopefully
lit by the bright moon. On this our 17th year of this hike the moon will be 55% full and should rise
several hours before the start of the hike – if the weather and clouds will cooperate we should
have plenty of light. Depending on snow conditions this will be by snowshoe or possibly just hiking
boots – we will work with what Mother Nature provides. The leaders will scout out the area the
week before to see if we can find any Screech Owl territories not to mention Great Horned Owls
which may be on their nests this time of year. This will be our third time at this location (2010 and
2021 previously) and we were lucky both times previously to find Screech-Owls so fingers crossed
we will be lucky this time around as well.
Meet at 7:00 p.m. We will park off County Road #10 at the Pearl Lake Road 5 km. north of Hanover. Parking is limited. Carpool wherever possible.
Pre-register via our website and find out about snow conditions or parking information that may
change based on the weather/road conditions.
