Fifty years ago a group of individuals with a shared love of nature gathered to found the Saugeen Nature Club to encourage and promote an appreciation and understanding of all aspects of the natural world in people of the Saugeen River area.
This year, we decided to offer intermediate students living in the Saugeen watershed competing at the Bluewater Regional Science and Technology Fair recognition of their investigations into conservation and preservation of biodiversity with an award.
This year’s winner of the newly designed Saugeen Nature Award is Aubrey Begon. Her science fair project was “H2Grow, the Great Water Experiment” to determine what liquids contribute to best plant growth. Aubrey will receive a cheque for $50.00 from Saugeen Nature and a personal award plaque. Her name and school will also be on an engraved plaque on a trophy that goes to the winner’s school for one year for display. The trophy will be picked up next March in time for the 2026 Bluewater Regional Science and Technology Fair. Congratulations Aubrey!”
