Event Information:
Spring ephemerals – plants that bloom briefly in spring, before the trees leaf out, are one of southern Ontario’s loveliest features. There is extensive mature hardwood forest to the west of Highway 6 north of Williamsford, and we will visit it in the Fish Hatchery County Forest. The forest here is carpeted with a rich variety of these flowers in May and early June. Come join us and learn their names and some of their interesting characteristics. Then you will be able to find some of them in whatever patch of woodland you happen to hike through in spring.
We will meet in the community centre in Williamsford at 10am and car-pool to the Fish Hatchery Forest on Sideroad 5. The parking there is limited. Sign up for the event online or email Nikki through saugeenfieldnaturalists@yahoo.ca. We will finalize plans in the days before the event with those who register.
