Meeting: Lake Huron: an update from the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation

Event Information:

This presentation will provide a short introduction on the vision and mission of the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation, followed by a description of several emerging threats to the health of Lake Huron. Plastic pollution, algae blooms, invasive species and climate change will be discussed. Ideas on how the general public can help reduce the impacts of these issues will be provided. Also included will be several good news stories for the Lake, including promising legislation, recent dune restoration and stewardship initiatives.
Our guest speaker will be Karen Alexander, the Outreach and Education Coordinator for Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation.
