March 18, 2024

Important Notice

Due to a cancellation, we now have a new topic for this month

Event Information:

Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority operates a flood forecasting and warning program that provides early notice of flooding and unsafe conditions in watercourses to municipalities, media, emergency personnel, and watershed residents.

Jody Duncan, Flood Forecasting and Warning Coordinator, will be providing an overview of SVCA’s flood forecasting and warning program. His presentation will discuss the local hydrological cycle, how SVCA monitors watershed conditions and assesses flood risk, flood messages and what they mean, what SVCA’s role is during a flood event, and how watershed residents can ensure they are flood prepared. The presentation will conclude with a review of historic flood events that have occurred in the Saugeen River watershed.
