Outing: Snowshoe Hike for Screech Owls at the Murray Tract

January 31, 2015

Event Information:

Once again we will try our luck to find a Screech Owl during an evening snowshoe hike hopefully lit by the bright moon. On this our 8th year of this hike the waxing gibbous moon should be high in the sky and nearly 78% full – if the weather and clouds will cooperate we should have plenty of light. Depending on snow conditions this will be by snowshoe or possibly just hiking boots – we will work with what mother nature provides. The leaders will scout out the area the week before to determine the best access point so participants will need to preregister to get details. The meeting site will be across the road at the Kinghurst Management Area parking lot. Don’t get this confused with the Kinghurst Forest Nature Reserve parking area. The Management Area parking lot is found 1 km north of Grey Road 25 on the 6th Concession (which is south of the Kinghurst Forest Reserve west entrance!)
Call to confirm attendance and get an update on the snow conditions: John Reaume 519-334-9861 or Jerry Asling 519-364-2608. We will plan to start the hike at 7:00 p.m.
