Event Information:
Once again we will try our luck to find a Screech Owl during an evening snowshoe hike hopefully lit by the bright moon. On this our 16th year of this hike the moon will be 95% full and should rise several hours before the start of the hike – if the weather and clouds will cooperate we should have plenty of light. Depending on snow conditions this will be by snowshoe or possibly just hiking boots – we will work with what Mother Nature provides. The leaders will scout out the area the week before to see if we can find any Screech-Owl territories not to mention Great Horned Owls which may be on their nests this time of year.
Meet at 7:00 p.m. The Camp Oliver Forest is located on the South Line just west of Camp Oliver Rd (this is one concession south of Hwy 4 just east of Durham. Parking is limited and will depend if the lot is plowed. Carpool wherever possible. Pre-register by email saugeenfieldnaturalists@yahoo.ca and find out about snow conditions or parking information that may change based on the weather/road conditions.
