Snowshoe Hike for Screech Owls at Carrick Tract

February 12, 2022
19:00

Event Information:

Once again we will try our luck to find a Screech Owl during an evening snowshoe hike hopefully lit by the bright moon. On this our 15th year of this hike the moon will be 77% full and should rise several hours before the start of the hike – if the weather and clouds will cooperate we should have plenty of light. Depending on snow conditions this will be by snowshoe or possibly just hiking boots – we will work with what Mother Nature provides. The leaders will scout out the area the week before to see if we can find any Screech-Owl territories not to mention Great Horned Owls which may be on their nests this time of year.

Meet at 7:00 p.m. The Carrick Tract Trail System is located at #732 Bruce-Huron Line in the municipality of South Bruce. Parking is limited and will depend if the lot is plowed. Carpool wherever possible. Pre-register by email saugeenfieldnaturalists@yahoo.ca and find out about snow conditions or parking information that may change based on the weather/road conditions.

Participant numbers may be limited due to covid restrictions at that time so attendees will need to pre-register
