Snowshoe Hike for Screech Owls

January 19, 2019
19:00

Event Information:

Once again we will try our luck to find a Screech Owl during an evening snowshoe hike hopefully lit by the bright moon. On this our 12th year of this hike the moon will be 92% full and should rise several hours before the start of the hike – if the weather and clouds will cooperate we should have plenty of light. Depending on snow conditions this will be by snowshoe or possibly just hiking boots – we will work with what Mother Nature provides. The leaders will scout out the area the week before to see if we can find any Screech-Owl territories not to mention Great Horned Owls which may be on their nests this time of year. Last year we had the unforgettable experience of seeing and hearing a pair of Northern Saw-whet Owls – at the very least a winter snowshoe hike by moonlight will be an unforgettable experience!

Meet at 7:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Sulphur Spring CA 261123 Grey Rd. 28 south of Hanover. Carpool wherever possible.

Call Angus Inksetter 519–364-3331 or John Reaume 519-334-9861 to pre-register and find out about snow conditions.
